Why do we gain weight?

Considering the obesity rate in this country, many people are addicted to food. Food addiction is very similar to alcohol and drug addiction. The difference between people who overeat and addicts is that people who overeat eat too much, but if they want and try to eat, they might quit, but despite the extra money spent, addicts usually can't stop eating or overeating. It affects their impact on interpersonal relationships or their health. Food addicts are obsessed with food. Although most obese people may be addicted to food, weight is not the only basis for determining them. People of medium or thin weight with bulimia nervosa or similar illnesses may also be addicted to food.

Maybe you're at a party or picnic and someone pulled out a plate of chocolate frosted cupcakes. The new diet plan is not to eat cupcakes, but the owner reminds them of you and reminds them that they are your favorite flavors. Therefore, you decide to have only one. You can taste delicious cakes, savor the softness and moisture of the cakes, and the chocolate and cream taste of the icing. But after that cup of cake, you decide to have another cup.

At this point, you realize that you can't stop eating them. You can voluntarily take the leftovers home, even if you know you will eat the leftovers, you will "take them home". Or because people don't know you have a problem, maybe you will leave early and stop at the bakery to collect the cake, maybe there are other places because the ice cream will surely be tasted with them. Now, you think too much about cupcakes and food. It may prevent you from playing at the party.

Whether it's cupcakes, ice cream, french fries, or pizza, if you're such a person but can't stop eating certain foods, you may be a food fanatic. Food addiction is real and serious. In the United States, obesity rates have been on the rise for many years. Unexpectedly, food addiction was not mentioned in the fight against obesity.

People are told to exercise self-control, use willpower, and avoid overeating. We were told to eat less sugar and fat and to exercise. People talk to overweight people as if they don't know. For people with food addiction, this is difficult. Based on many separate studies, scientists found evidence of chemical dependence on food. Experiments have shown that the brain's pleasure centers activated when people use cocaine and heroin are also stimulated by food.

People who indulge in overeating because certain foods activate brain chemicals that feel good (such as dopamine) can make people feel elevated. Although every food addict has one or more of their favorite foods, the most addictive foods are generally foods high in sugar, fat, and salt.

Anyone who is overweight will not indulge in food. Eating three brownies from time to time, eating more than the recommended amount of fries, or eating a lot of food for dinner will not make a person addicted to food. There are many overweight people who are not addicted to food. Food addicts think a lot about food and diet. They often try not to eat certain foods and fail. They are nervous and eager for food. They both love and hate food. They like food because not only is it delicious, but it can comfort them and help them cope with (but most importantly cover-up) negative emotions, such as inner anger or frustration. They hate food because it makes them overweight and they make them feel sad. Food makes them feel out of control because they cannot tolerate more and more food.

People with binge eating disorder eat a lot of food when they overeat, just like many other overweight addicts, but as they excrete food, they tend to lose weight or gain on average. But they are often addicted to food and cannot eat just one serving. They eat a lot of food but try to control their weight by "getting rid" of the food.

There should be many plans to help curb the obesity epidemic in this country. More attention needs to be paid to food addiction. Most obese people don't just overeat, because they think gaining weight is fun. They and others who are not obese suffer from food addiction. Food addiction must be treated as seriously as drug addiction because these addictions can cause serious illness and even death.
